Real Life Runners with Angie and Kevin Brown
Angie and Kevin Brown are here to help real life runners to improve their running and their life through conversations about training, mindset, nutrition, health and wellness, family, and all the crazy things that life throws at us. The lessons that we learn from running can carry over into all aspects of our life, and we are here to explore those connections through current research, our experiences, and stories from real people out on the roads and trails, so that you can become a physically and mentally stronger runner and achieve the goals that matter to you. We are Kevin and Angie Brown, husband and wife, mom and dad, coaches, and runners. Angie holds her doctorate degree in physical therapy and uses running as part of her integrated fitness routine. Kevin is a marathoner who has been coaching runners for over a decade. Together, we want to help make running more accessible to more people, so that more people can gain the benefits of being a Real Life Runner.

306: Motivation
I just need to find the motivation...
If only I could be more motivated...
I want to go run (or strength train), but I'm not feeling motivated...
Ever been there?
So many runners have.
I would venture to say that every runner has felt unmotivated at one time or another.
Here's the thing...
Motivation is a feeling, and like any feeling, it comes and goes.
Sometimes you're happy, sometimes you're sad.
Sometimes you're angry, sometimes you're apathetic.
Sometimes you're motivated, sometimes you aren't.
Nothing is wrong here. We all have those times.
The problem occurs when we let those times become an excuse for not doing the things we need to do to get the results that we want.
There's a few different ways that we can look at motivation, and that's exactly what we do on this week's podcast!
We talk about:
- The difference between what you want and what you feel like (HINT: they're not the same!)
- How we can use both short term and long term motivators to move us ahead
- How to balance our goals with our current ability
- How to do what you need to do to get the results you truly want
- How to use our future self to help our present self
- And so much more!
